The Black Bull is set in the village of Wolsingham, a charming area in the heart of Weardale and very close to the North Penines. The Inn is located on the market place, right in the middle of the village and next to several local ammenities, such as the Post office, local convenience store and library. It is also located directly opposite the bus stop, with regular buses travelling from Wolsingham to the nearby cities of Durham and Newcastle. There is also ample, free on-street parking located in the market place, making it easy to get around this beautiful area.

Wolsingham is home to the oldest agricultural show in Britain, which takes place on the first weekend of September every year and attracts tourists and locals from the Weardale area alike. Wolsingham is also situated on a lovely steam train network, which links Bishop Auckland with Stanhope and is a great way to see the area. For the more active visitor, Wolsingham has plenty to offer. There are over 150 walks and rambles which start form here, and the village is also situated on the Coast to Coast cycle network. Nearby Hamsterly Forest also boasts some very impressive Mountain Biking tracks, as well as a great opportunity to spot some of the local wildlife.

The Black Bull Inn has a fantastic food menu available, with a fantastic team to serve you. We serve contemporary pub classics, such as beef and ale pies and fish and chips, but also serves a great choice of special dishes, with our belly pork and crispy chicken dishes proving particularly popular. The pub has also become well known for its great selection of hand-made burgers. Our cask ales have recently won the Cask Marque award for outstanding beer quality, and we also sell a good variety of Lagers and Ciders, which you can enjoy in our beautiful beer garden at the rear of the pub. The rooms in the Black Bull are clean, bright and comfortable, serving a choice of breakfasts, from Full English to cereals and toasts.
